Born in New York City. Michael Yurgeles received a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire and an M.F.A. in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. Michael has served on the faculty of the Wheeler, Dublin and Forman Schools and the Northwestern Connecticut Community College. Much of Michael's work is photo-based, and deals with cycles in nature and perceptions of time. He believes that as an artist, he should collect as many images as possible, much as an archeologist collects objects, and then attempt to organize them in a way that reveal underlying purposes and patterns, and motivations. Currently,Michael lives in Litchfield, Connecticut with his partner Nancy, three dogs and four cats. |
